In our newly funded interdisciplinary Cluster of Excellence NaviSense for the Sensory Basis, Mechanisms, and Impacts of Animal Navigation, we are looking for
in the diverse research fields of NaviSense, starting from 1 January 2026 at the earliest.
NaviSense is a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary research project hosted at the University of Oldenburg and involves national and international partner institutions. As a diverse and international team of scientists from biology, physics, chemistry, computer sciences and social sciences we provide a thorough, interdisciplinary understanding of the senses and mechanisms used by animals to navigate, and how these mechanisms can inspire technology and impact society, ecology, and biodiversity.
NaviSense performs research in four main research foci (RF). Find out more about the detailed research programme, the related research fields and involved Principal Investigators and Cooperation Partners of the RFs:
- RF1: Animal navigation mechanisms and their underlying senses
- RF2: Quantum effects at ambient temperature in model systems and biology
- RF3: Ecological and conservation related consequences of animal navigation
- RF4: Linking biological and technical systems through models, algorithms, and devices
As an early career researcher of NaviSense you will be part of a unique interdisciplinary, collaborative, international and diverse research team and you will have access to a very wide range of expertise, modern equipment and state-of-the-art techniques. You and your peers will benefit from our qualification program hosted in the NavNextGen Academy which will allow you to further promote your personal and professional development.
