David Lentink

I am both an engineer and a biologist by training and study every aspect of flight with a systems perspective. In my lab I perform multidisciplinary animal research to study how organisms fly, and I also build biohybrid, biomimetic, and bioinspired aerial robots that embody my biological findings to test and translate them. I develop my own measurement methods, including the Aerodynamic Force Platform (invention, featured in Nature) and a 3D high-speed structured light scanner with multiple projectors and cameras (invention of multi camera and projector algorithm), etc. In my high-tech lab I integrate engineering and basic biological research, which I publish in highly visible multidisciplinary journals, and the research is frequently disseminated in the worldwide media (international newspapers, TV, and Radio, leading magazines, science and art museums, etc.).
