Eric Warrant

I studied physics and entomology for my B.Sc. and completed a Ph.D. in visual science, both in my homeland of Australia. Following a postdoc and research fellowship at the University of Lund, I became Professor in 2002. I lead an active research group studying vision and visual navigation in nocturnal and deep-sea animals. Using behaviour, electrophysiology, histology and modelling, my team has discovered the neural principles that permit vision and navigation in dim light. In recent years, I have also taken a strong interest in magnetoreception and its interaction with the visual system in insects.
