Henrik Mouritsen

I have been a birdwatcher since I was 10 years old. I started wondering, how birds and other animals find their way and how they sense the Earth’s magnetic field when I was about 15 years old and have worked on these topics ever since. I am educated as a behavioural biologist and a chemist, but realized early on that, to deeply understand the behaviour of animals, an interdisciplinary approach is necessary. Therefore, I expanded my research approach into the fields of neuro- and molecular biology, biochemistry, biophysics, etc. and am very much enjoying building and working in interdisciplinary, collaborative research centres.
