I am a chemist specialized in bioelectrochemistry. My research interest and experience cover various methods of the modification of electrode surfaces by organized molecular films using Langmuir-Blodgett, self-assembly, spreading of vesicles and bicelles, polymerization reactions to understand the effects of electric potentials on molecular scale order in complex supramolecular assemblies. Films deposited at electrodes are investigated by means of electrochemical (capacitance, voltammetric methods, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy) methods. To learn in situ (in solution) about the electric potential driven changes in the structure, conformation, and orientation of the (bio-)molecules in assemblies on electrode surfaces I implement infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy under electrochemical control. Use of spectroscopic techniques such as X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Raman Spectroscopy let us gain in-depth structural information about complex molecular systems. To learn about the morphology and mechanical properties of supramolecular assemblies I implement scanning force microscopy.
