Sandra Bouwhuis

I am an evolutionary ecologist with a specific interest in the causes and consequences of within-individual change in life-history traits and between-individual variation in life-history strategies. I mostly conduct analyses on long- term individual-based datasets collected in wild populations, to the collection of which I of course contribute. Keywords capturing my current work are: ageing, climate change, environmental pollution, migration and avian influenza. My aim is for my fundamental science to lead to knowledge gain useful for implementation in conservation projects, because of which I have recently expanded my work on common terns with work on the last Central European population of gull-billed terns, as part of a conservation project.
